Ruined Hunter Original Ceiling Fan. Why You Must Oil These Fans.

This is what happens if you don’t oil an original. This poor thing was installed, ran for a few years and never oiled. As you can see it barely runs and the bearings squeak. I later tore this fan down, and deemed it a total loss, even though the finish is mint, it is nothing but a parts fan due to the main bearing having almost 1/4″ of play in it. I bet whoever installed the fan wondered what the little tube of oil was for.. Sigh.
