I bought this as a replacement for an existing fan that had finally
quit. The orginal fan was suspended from a rod and as the room it was in
was conventional height, it stuck down into the room. When I bought this
fan I was looking for one that was ‘closer’ to the ceiling. This fan fulfilled that requirement and was a cinch to install. I bought this light kit to go with the fan and it is as compact as one could make.

Despite the sketchy instructions, the light kit was easy to install on a Hunter fan that I purchased locally. My guess is that people with little experience with wiring and light fixture installation may need some help from someone who is handy. When I installed the fan I did end up calling Hunter’s help line with a wiring question. I was on hold for a long time, but when I did get through, the agent was helpful and knowledgeable. Don’t forget that there is a pull-chain switch on the fan itself. I turned on the light at the wall switch, and for a few minutes could not figure out why it didn’t work.
